Christmas 2013

Santa came to town!  The kids were over the moon excited when they came downstairs this morning at 7:30!  I heard them come down but I stayed in bed for a couple minutes listening to them ooh and ahh over their findings!  That is one of my favorite parts!!  Santa did not disappoint!

Alyssa got Roller Blades as her big gift, along with finger nail polish, a jump rope and a picture of Esther.  Alyssa got from us brown boots, a craft kit that she has already been experimenting with, “Fun with Mouse and Friends” book collection and a bracelet making kit

Jenna got exactly what she wanted!  A dream light!  She is hoping now that she has it, she won’t be scared of the dark.  She also got a Doc McStuffins coloring book and markers.  She was the first one to have her stocking dumped out!  Jenna got from us a Lalaloopsy, a Doc McStuffins scooter, play kitchen food, Sandra Boynton books, and a bracelet making kit.  She got slippers and pony from her best friend Devri.

Melanie was very surprised when she saw she got a Red Camera and accessories as that was not on her list!  She has had fun all day long taking pictures!  She has laid out everything she got today and taken a picture of it.  Watch out, she might start her own blog!  It even takes video!  She is going to love it on her upcoming trip to Washington!  She also got a jump rope, craft supplies, a 10 LB kettlebell for Crossfit and a picture of Ruth.  She got from us clothes, a big polar bear, books 1-4 from the “Goddess Girls” series and a bracelet making kit.

Cameron got everything baseball!  A new leather glove, a baseball ipod case, baseballs, a 15 LB Kettlebell for Crossfit and a picture of Samuel the Lamanite.  Cameron got from us legos, books 1-12 of the Ranger’s Apprentice (1-10 is still in the mail!), a BYU hat and blue tooth speakers for his ipod

Jason was going crazy when he realized he got a tablet!  He loves the games!  Santa wasn’t ready to give him an ipod yet so this was the perfect option!  He also got a 10 LB Kettlebell for Crossfit, a T-Rex book that shows and explains different parts of his body and a picture of Enos.  He got from us legos, books 1-5 of the “Andrew Lost” series, a BYU hat and he is sharing the blue tooth speakers with Cameron.

  David got some slacks and shirts for work, a blazer, a BYU jacket and a Blue North Face coat.  I got workout clothes, a Grey Puff Coat, a pair of jeans, a BYU jacket and running gloves.

Our parents each gave us money that we are putting toward Emergency Preparedness items.  Water storage and we plan to buy a 2 burner camping stove this week!  We are excited about both of those things!

Our New Family Pictures

I have been on the hunt for a really good photographer for a long time here and there.  And I think I found one that did everything I wanted.  First, she comes and looks at the feel of your home.  For us I just sent pictures of our living room where I wanted the pictures placed.  Then she suggests colors to wear and sent pictures back with our room and picture placements she puts on the walls.  And with 5 kids, especially Jenna, you really have to photo shop A LOT!!  Almost every photo with Jenna she had to photo shop.  She did amazing!!  I was so nervous when we went over and viewed our pictures at her house.  As David put it after our photo shoot “She has to be a magician to get anything good out of that!  That was a disaster!”  After looking at our proofs I said, “well, you are a magician!”  And David said after leaving and climbing in our car to go home “That was worth every penny.”  Success! How close have you been to a Prophet?

David, and two other guys he works with, were invited to the Jazz game last Friday night. I have come to find out as a construction wife, to get business, you gotta play A LOT ! Here is a short list, not limited to, of what I mean by "play": Golfing (about 3 times a week-depending on the week and in warm weather of course) Snow skiing (about 2 times a week, again this depends on the week and when there's snow) Fancy dinners (this can also be counted as lunch, which happens more than I know I'm sure!) Executive Retreats (this will be happening in February for about 5 days in AZ, which will have all 5 days full of golfing, guaranteed!!) Jazz games (again, when in season) I don't know about you, but I think I'm in the wrong career!! This house wife things just does not include ANY of those benefits!! TRIALS

We have been preparing for over 4 years for this trial. But nothing, no matter how much you knew it could and most likely would happen, can prepare you when your son's doctor tells you now is the time. "Your son needs open heart surgery." August 24th, 2005, Jason was born in Las Vegas, NV. He was perfect and healthy looking in every way. At his 2 week check up the doctor heard a heart murmur and recommended I take him to the cardiologist. I mentioned that I was flying out to WA in a few days and so I'd probably go when I got back, 3 weeks later. The cardiologist doctor called me the next day after visiting with the pediatrician, asking me to go in to have Jason checked out. It was late and he was willing to stay after hours for us to get there. After an ultra sound of his heart (echo) the cardiologist diagnosed Jason with a very small hole in his heart. Nothing that needed to be fixed right away, unless it started causing problems. So Jason started going every 3 month
