Family Outing

Image
Today Cameron's football game was cancelled because of the weather, so we decided to go to downtown Salt Lake and walk around temple square. It has been a few years since we have gone here. Sadly, the parking downtown just makes me turn off from wanting to come. I hate paying for parking. And I hate finding parking. But I was glad we went today. There was a TON of weddings while we were there. It was fun to see all of the brides. And a good teaching moment of being married in the temple!! Can never pass up a way to slip those in!! The kids had a fun time. We did learn one thing though, eat before you leave or bring some food! We got there at 11:30 and didn't leave until 2:30. So lunch was a little late for everyone. We passed on the movie in the Joseph Smith building. Next time! Melanie did say she wished Jesus talked. I thought that was cute! It really was so nice to go do something with our family. The kids all took home a few of the pass along cards with pictu

Spring Cleaning-Outside

Image
I LOVE yard work! It is very therapeutic for me! I would so much rather work outside than inside. We have had a very cool spring with a lot of rain and colder temperatures. Not great for a lot of playing outside, but all of the rain has really made my weeding a whole lot easier!! So, while tackling my flower bed out back I spied some broken robin eggs on the ground under one of the pine trees. When I looked up into the tree I found the nest, tipped on it's side. Melanie thought it was pretty cool and decided she was going to take it to show and tell next week. Does anyone else think nests are SO COOL? I can't believe how strong and tightly woven birds can make them. WOW! She put it back in the tree until then. But she has let all her friends know of the nest! Alyssa was my helper in her ballerina outfit and barbie shoes. As always she cracks me up! LOVE THESE GIRLS!!

Jason has been doing jobs around the house to earn money to buy a transformer. He has been saving for a month now. He is up to $3.00. The good thing about this is he is learning to count. Every time he earns some more he has to dump out his coins and count them all yet again. He doesn't understand their value yet, so he just counts them each individually. He can count up to 30 now!

Hot dogs and s'mores are so much FUN after a hard day of working in the yard!

Mother's Day

Image
I had a great Mother's Day and felt very loved and appreciated by my kids and husband. We had 1 o'clock church, so that gave us a lot of down time in the morning together. While David was making breakfast I studied for my Primary lesson. The youth took over for all the women teachers in church so I didn't end up teaching, which was nice! It's so fun to eat your breakfast in bed, but also lonely. So everyone else brought up their breakfast plates and we all enjoyed it together. The kids thought that was so fun. I am just overcome that I have 5 children!! Holy moly!! Being a mother is one of the most fulfilling, rewarding, draining, exhausting, stressful, enjoyable, humbling, overwhelming and patient testing roles I have ever done, or will ever do. I would NEVER trade it! I have learned so much through my children. Maybe they have taught ME more. Their unconditional love towards me is inspiring. I have a lot to learn from each of them. While getting myself r

Melanie's Kindergarten Kaleidoscope Day

Image
Yesterday Melanie had Kindergarten Kaleidoscope. They got to work on all kinds of projects at different stations in the gym and then got to go through the lunch line. The highlight of the day for the kids. Melanie asked David if he would go. He worked out his schedule so he could, which I was very grateful for. One less hassle of finding a babysitter in the morning and having to take Jenna. Melanie came home with all sorts of projects to show me. She told me they had chicken nuggets and french fries for lunch. A classic school lunch I guess. We are adjusting to David's new work schedule more. Today he went to work in shorts, because he could! I am still trying to be patient and have to realize that "time" doesn't happen all at once when you are self-employed. David went to his softball game last night at 9:30 than stayed up working and talking with his employees in the Phillippines when he got home. He went to bed at 3:30 this morning. The pressure to prov

Run 4 MICROCEPHALY!!

(Alise, Damon, Juan and Keenan) Last weekend we made a quick trip to Rexburg, ID to support my sister and nephew, Damon in the run she had worked SO HARD to organize! It was FREEZING, but given the weather of that week, we couldn't have asked for better. There wasn't any rain or snow so I'm not complaining!! Alise got all of the volunteers, raffles, shirts, treats for after the race, a photographer and everything else this fun run required. She compared it to a part time job! It really was that much work!! David's company made the website that made it so much easier to register online! They also made the way cool logo that is on the front of the t-shirts!! Here is David waiting for the race to start with the kids. Since it was so cold they just stuck around until the runners took off. Then they drove by me to cheer me on at about the mile mark, just as I started running up the HUGE hill! Here is Alise and I. She is in the colorful striped beanie and I am puttin

Major CHANGE!!

So, I know you are all just DYING to know what new changes have happened in our family. I really can't believe it myself. In hindsight it all has happened so fast. But a month ago it seemed so far away! Well, David resigned from his job at Granite Mill!! Seems kind of weird with so many people losing their job that he would walk away from his! To give you an idea of what David did there and the huge impact it will make at the Mill I will describe some of the things his work entailed. Granite Mill is a commercial woodworking business. They build anything "wood" that go in to large buildings such as hospitals, lawyers offices, court houses and even temples. David oversaw the building, shipping, installing and running of each project. If anyone had a question whether they worked out in the shop, were the Project Manager of a job, an installer, a general contractor or owner they came to David. One of the Project Manager's that worked there told me a couple month

Jenna is 4 months!

Image
I am loving this age!! Jenna is such a happy baby. We are all enjoying her in our family. I can not imagine our family without Jenna. I took her to the doctor on Thursday. Here are her stats. Weight: 13 lbs. 12 oz. Height: 24.3 inches Head: 40.7 cm. Now, this is honestly what I thought when she was weighed and I saw it read 13 lbs 12 oz. "Oh no, something must be wrong with her! That is to small!!" Seriously, I almost had a panic attack. This is NOT one of my kids!! She gained less than a pound in 1 1/2 months! Well, when I came home to look at the stats of the other kids that I had kept records of I was right in my thinking. The closest one to Jenna's weight at this age was 17 lbs! Cameron was at the top at 4 months with a whopping 22 lbs!! Jenna is the first one to be on the growth chart at 60%. Wahoo!! The kids just love to hold Jenna so I had to take a picture with all of them. They still can't get enough of her! A funny story of Jenna while cooking
