Believe in Bre Throwdown

Image
Last night Hermes Crossfit held a fundraiser for a friend whose daughter has cancer.  She is a teenager in High School.  If you wanted to compete it was $10 and then they had a raffle for a small motorcycle that was donated or you could also donate money.  I have not done a competition before, neither did I believe I would win!  But I wanted to go support and join in the fun.  I am so glad both David and I did it together.  It was one of those fun, memorable experiences! The first Workout was weight lifting.  It was a Clean and Jerk and a deadlift.  You choose 3 different weights with 1 attempt at each weight.  I was able to clean and jerk 105 LBs and Deadlift 205 Lbs.  David Clean and Jerked 225 Lbs. and Deadlifted a new PR of 423 Lbs!  There were some HUGE guys there!  The dad of Bre, who is a professional weight lifter did 3 deadlifts in a row of 745 LBs!!  It was incredible to watch!!   Then we started our next Workout.  This one was 7 minutes long with 7 different movements.  E

A Day in Salt Lake City

Today we decided to take the kids to Temple Square and the new City Creek Mall.  It was a fun afternoon!  David shattered his iphone screen so while he went to the apple store I went and got some makeup at Sephora.  Then we headed over to Temple Square.  The feeling and peace on those grounds is so real.  I could feel such a difference while walking around the temple, looking at the amazing work done by hand to that temple.  Those pioneers were workers, knowing what they were building was so important, dedicating their lives to building it.  I am amazed every time I go there!  We then went and ate a late lunch, early dinner at the Cheese Cake Factory.  It was a fun day with just our family.  I really really enjoyed it! This picture cracks me up!  Next time find someone who knows how to take a picture   Obviously we weren’t ready!

Another Whole30 and a New Goal

Today is day 30 of my whole30 eating.  Why did I do it?  Nope it wasn't to lose weight.  I am actually completely fine with the number on the scale.  That is one thing I learned on my first whole30, to not be obsessed with the number on the scale.  The one and only goal I had with doing the whole30 again was to gain control over my eating habits and sugar.  When I get stressed I turn to comfort food.  When I am bored I eat.  I snack in the pantry when the kids do.  Just 1 cookie turns in to 7.  I was feeling that I had lost control over my own body and my cravings were winning every time.  When I am eating healthy and can control myself when I have that urge to eat a cracker, grab a handful of chocolate chips or eat half the batch of cookies, I feel powerful.  I feel like I am overcoming the natural man in myself.  And I feel AMAZING when I am eating REAL food!!  Not the processed crap that is classified under "Food" because the FDA says it is.  I sleep more deeply, wake

Jason had the big birthday last week!  He turned 8 years old!  He has been looking forward to this day all year!  I really can’t believe it is here already and we will have another child baptized in the house.  Jason is such a sweet boy.  He really desires to Choose the Right.  He loves to play on the Wii, build legos and really likes the Star Wars Legos right now.  He loves to be active outside riding his electric scooter or roller blading.  He has a lot of friends that he is constantly playing with in the neighborhood.  He loves sports and can be very intense and competitive.  He also gets embarrassed very easily and does not like attention drawn to him.  He is excelling in his Chinese program.  He is a good student and loves to participate in class.  His favorite thing to do at recess is the monkey bars, skipping as far as he can reach.  He is the first one in the morning to get his room picked up and chores done.  I am so grateful for this boy in our home!  For his birthday he got
