House Work, Smouse Work!!

I would just like to say I officially hate house work! I used to really enjoy it. Of course that was BEFORE the house was a mess EVERY DAY due to my wonderful little chicklins! It's not so motivating when you wake up to a messy house, clean it, mess it up by lunch, clean it somewhat again, and then by the night it looks the same as when you woke up that morning! I don't know when I started to hate it. I think maybe when we moved to Las Vegas and had our first rental in a long time. Renting is not the same as owning! Anyway, I would love someday for a cleaning lady to come to my house and clean it twice a month. That would really help! (This probably would go against everything I was taught and the long heritage of hard workers from both sides of my family, but it sure would be helpful!)

Hair, Hair Hair!

Image
Okay, as many of you know I have A LOT of hair! It is thick, coarse and sort of wavy/curly. It was always the hardest thing for me in Jr. High/High School to figure out how to make it straight. It never would come out completely straight with a curling iron, which frustrated me to no end. I even took my showers at night just so I could pull my wet hair back into a low pony tail held by a scrunchy, followed by another scrunchy, and another, and if I could fit another one at the end I would put yet another scrunchy in. Then the next morning I would blow dry the damp hair and I thought it worked pretty good, so I don't know how long I kept that up for. 3 years ago, after Jason was born I decided I was going to grow my hair out. Of course there have been many trims and small cuts along the way, but nothing like what I had done before when I got sick of my hair and wanted a "new do". Surprisingly I never got sick of my hair along the way of it growing. Only those with thick h

Goodbye Froggy!!

Well, the toad and the frog have left us! Actually we let them go. The toad was the first to leave. He didn't last a week with us. He never ate any of the crickets we fed him and looked to be on drugs (if you can be for a toad!). He was jumping around in the tank all crazy. Cameron was more than happy to get rid of him. The frog was the only one who ate and with a frog or toad, that's the ( only ) exciting thing to watch it do. I have to admit, it was fun to put the live cricket in the tank and see it walk around and then watch the frog get into position and then jump and catch it in the air. Landing in the water or upside down. One time before we let the toad go, we put in a cricket. The cricket walked around and finally walked up on the toads back. The toad didn't move at all! Then the frog jumped up and ate it off of it's back! It was seriously the coolest time he got one. And Cameron freaked out about that!! "WOW! DID YOU SEE THAT, DID YOU SEE THAT? THAT WAS

Our Weekend-sorry no pictures

Friday night was our Relief Society Retreat (this happens once a year at a cabin above Park City with the women in our church that want to go.) Last year Alyssa was only 3 months old and so I didn't go, but really have been looking forward to it and wanted to go this year. I was very apprehensive in the days leading up to it though because not only did Cameron and Melanie have a soccer game Saturday morning, but Cameron was in charge of the treats for his team, they were both playing at the same time on 2 different fields and they both had team pictures afterwards! No easy feat for me who is used to juggling 4, let alone a dad who has a hard enough time at home for a few hours with all of them. So I was thinking I'd stay home for the sake of David. When Friday rolled around though, I was determined to go and just let David handle it and to have a good time (besides, this only happens once a year!) Since it was Friday and payday, I wanted to get the grocery shopping done so that

Official Soccer MOM!

Image
I've officially become a soccer mom this week! And I even have the mini van to prove it!! We put both Melanie and Cameron in the sport this fall. I think Melanie is tired of us saying "next year". It is seriously so cute to watch her play and so I'm really glad we put her in. Both Cameron and Melanie had practice this week, followed by a game each today. Cameron's game was at 10 and Melanie's at 11. The soccer fields just down the road from our house are AMAZING!! There are so many fields and then to get that many kids on there, what a big thing to organize! I should have known from the beginning what to expect! As we were walking from the van to the fields, Cameron was filling in Melanie on the perks of playing. "After the game you get treats!" Of course that's the highlight, right?! Cameron just ran around the field not really knowing what was going on. He got hit a couple of times with the ball. One in the shins (those shin guards came in hand

Our Trip to Washington

What a wonderful weekend! It was short, sweet and so worth the traveling time to go to WA. We arrived Friday night and enjoyed dinner with the family at Ryan & Melissa's. We spent the nights at my parents house and as always they got spoiled with grandma and grandpa's time! The wedding was Saturday morning and so we left the kids with my mom and went in to town early that morning. As always, I love to see and witness temple weddings. Brings back so many great memories for me and the spirit is so strong there. My mom brought our kids after so they could see Caleb and Rebecca come out of the temple. Melanie was so excited to see them! She talked so much to me before about Becca getting married to her boyfriend. It's a fairy tale come true to her! After the luncheon my mom offered to take the kids back home with her and bring them to the reception that night. I cannot tell you how nice it was for just David and I to relax for a few hours! Thank you so much mom! You are S

Weekend Plans

This weekend Rebecca, David's sister is getting married. So tomorrow we are off to Wa. It really feels like we were just there for the Lee family reuinion the first of July. The time is just passing too quickly. We are looking forward to seeing family though. I love getting together with everyone! It will be a super quick trip and so we will be back Sunday around midnight. We are cramming as much as we can for the 1 1/2 days we are there! Hopefully I can get a few pictures along the way. By the way...did anyone see on "America's Got Talent" the "nuttin but stringz" act? Oh my gosh!!! It was amazing and it seriously gave me goosebumps! Take a look here: http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/nuttin-but-stringz/573167/ What incredible talent. I didn't know the violin could sound so pretty and so pure! Loved it, Loved it, Loved it! I wanted to see more and hope I catch the next show they're on!

Girls

I love having 2 boys and 2 girls. I don't know how we got so lucky to work that out! And now that Alyssa is getting bigger, soon Melanie will be playing all of the fun girl things with her. Last night after laying down the kids for bed, David and I started a movie that we had rented. The first 15 mins. Alyssa was crying, so I went up there with a glass of water to give to her. She is always thirsty. Alyssa was in her crib with her blanket and a pillow. Melanie was awake and told me that Alyssa was pointing and she didn't know what she wanted. So she had thrown in the pillow thinking that was what she wanted. I gave Alyssa the drink of water and then I layed her back in her crib. Of course Alyssa wasn't too happy with that, but I knew she'd be asleep soon. After the movie was over I went in to the girls' room to make sure the blanket was on Alyssa. It got cold last night! When I walked in I just had to smile. Moments like these are just the most precious EVER!! Th

DONE and DONE!

I finished the last book tonight, Breaking Dawn. It ended well and it definetly picked up on the back end of the book. Saturday night David called to see if he could bring dinner home. He was trying to please me since he was gone all day golfing, etc, etc. I told him what I really wanted was out of the house, ALONE! So I went to Bed, Bath and Beyond (yes for you Becca) and then sat in the parking lot in the car reading for over an hour. So relaxing and no interruptions. Just me and the vampires. When I got home at 8:30 all of the kids were in bed ASLEEP!! That was so nice. And a follow up on Alyssa, she is sleeping through the night so good!! We are doing great on the weaning thing, Hooray!
