Last Night

Last Night David and I were invited to be on a dating board for the Priest/Laurel activity. It was a lot of fun with memories to reminisce about. One of the questions was "what was one of the qualities you looked for in an eternal companion when you were a Priest/Laurel." That one took me a minute to think about because it's been so long since I've thought about that. I always had lists we'd make in Laurel's class of our future husband's qualities. But when I thought of my answer I replied firmly "a return missionary". The Priest Leader put his thumbs up and said with an excited face quietly "YES"! That is what he has been stressing in class to his boys. I guess missions aren't as high a priority to some of them around here. But that was HUGE for me! I wanted to marry a return missionary and I wasn't going to settle for anything else. And I'm glad that I didn't. When we got back David had a work meeting at a co-workers h

Cameron went back on track today! It felt like the first day of school all over again. I don't know if it is the feeling of spring in the air or being gone from school for a month that has caused so much excitement. I had to laugh this morning when Cameron was choosing what to wear. He would never wear this button-up shirt and jacket to school before. He thought that his friends would laugh or something. He usually liked to wear nice long sleeve shirts and just normal like t-shirts. But today was different. It was like out with the old and in with the new. Over night he didn't want anything to do with his usual shirts and opted to try this new outfit on. He insisted also on doing his hair spiky. He went to school this morning feeling pretty good about himself! I like the preppy look. So it's all good! (Thanks to my sister-in-law, Heather, all of Cameron's clothes came from her boys. I take no credit in buying his super cute clothes.)

Lost and Found

Image
Last night Melanie's cats weren't in the back yard. I thought no big deal, they'll be there in the morning wanting breakfast. But no. When we woke up they were no where to be found. Melanie was SO UPSET!! She went to all of the neighbors house asking if her cats were there. Nothing. So on our trips out today I just kept my eye out for them. I kept thinking if they were lost, there was no way they were going to find their way back with all of these houses around! She even called grandma and told her that her cats had run away. Poor little girl! Well tonight, the neighbor came over with both cats! Melanie was ecstatic! She has been loving on them all night. They were trapped in the neighbor's garage. Apparently they went in there when the garage was open last night and were stuck when they closed the garage for the night. They are pretty dirty though. They look like they have been rolling in a Jiffy Lube mechanic store. But Melanie will snuggle with her kitties no matter

Your Purse'onal Journey

Image
I'm planning the Relief Society Enrichment birthday night for March. I am meeting tomorrow to plan for it and we will be discussing our "purse" theme. I came across this hilarious song. I think it'd be funny to sing it at the Enrichment party! We will also being doing other fun games that night related to purses and having all the sisters bring their purses, full of everything they have in it. Should be a fun night! (tune: Count Your Blessings) When upon life's journey you are lost and poor, Do not be discouraged, you'll not miss the store. Count your many purses, every doubt will fly You've been spending money as the days went by. Are you ever burdened with a purse of care? Does the purse seem heavy you are called to bear?Count your many purses, every doubt will fly And you will be singing as the sales go by. When you look at others with their purses new Think that life has promised more than that to you. Count the many purses from which money did fly Yo

What's Up Around Here

David is currently in AZ on his "retreat". He had his golf clubs, golf shoes and shorts all ready to go before leaving. Sounds like a lot of fun. I'm glad that I went to WA a few weeks ago or I'd be going stir crazy right now. He is coming home Saturday so it will be a nice little get-a-way for him from work. He needed it! I am now the current owner of a gold's gym membership pass. David got one last year and since he hasn't used it in a LONG time, I decided I could really use it to help me get ready for that marathon I have planned in April. The best part is it has a great daycare that I leave all 4 of my little chicklins at for 1 1/2 hours while I work out! Did it feel good to run today! I have been slacking because it is FREEZING outside and the only time to go is before David goes to work at 6 am. NOT GONNA HAPPEN! So, thank you so much honey for willingly giving up your pass to me! Alise comes in town tonight. She will just be here for dinner

Talking, or lack thereof

Alyssa will be 20 months old in 4 days, and the only word she can say is "mom". Usually it is a scream. She understands everything we say and knows what she wants. But rather than tell us, she points and grunts until we can figure out what it is she wants. I am just wondering if I should look into speech therapy or wait. I don't want to wait to long if she is behind in her speech. I don't know if it's lazy or if there is something really wrong. Because she has her finger in her mouth a lot of the time, she doesn't gibber-jabber like a lot of my other kids did. Maybe that's the problem! So what do you think I should do? Look into it or wait a bit longer before pursuing professional help?

WE LOVE GOING TO WASHINGTON!!!

What a treat it was to get away for a week! I really needed a break from every day life and I'm sure the kids needed it just as much as me. Cameron went off track on the 27th of January and so it was the perfect time to go! We left Monday, the 2nd, early and picked up Alise and her 2 boys in Burley. That definitely made the drive a lot funner with her! We were packed in the van. Luckily the DVD player worked to entertain most of the way!! What did we ever do with out those as kids?! The day after we got there Cameron threw up and had a fever all day. So we cancelled our plans we had made and just hung out at my parents house. It was beautiful outside and Melanie spent all day outside with the cats and Snoopy the dog. We visited Grandma and Grandpa McGary, minus the sick boy. Melanie played outside with their dog Perky most of the visit. She was never bored, with plenty of animals loving her attention! When my mom got off of work she watched the kids so Alise and I could make a tr

Cat's out of the Bag!!

I decided 2 weeks ago that I was going to make a trip up to WA. I am in much need of a break and Cameron is off track for 3 weeks, so it's the perfect time. I am picking up Alise in Burley and so we will be going together in our van. SO MUCH FUN!!! But...my mom knew about it and wanted to surprise my dad. So, we kept it a secret until tonight when my dad called! Rewind 5 mins. before my dad called to Melanie telling David that Grandpa didn't know we were going home, that it was a surprise. So, back to the phone call. Melanie answered the phone. The first thing she said to grandpa was "We're coming to your house! Oh...but it's supposed to be a surprise. So, forget we are coming, okay?!! So YES!!! We are going to Washington for a week of fun. The highlight being on Saturday celebrating Melanie and my mom's b-day, and Alex's baptism. We will be partying. It's been a long time since I've gone to WA with out David, so I will get to see a lot

The Job of A Fireman

Last weekend there was a big accident at an intersection we go through practically every day, since it's so close to our home. There was a person who died with many others injured. The morning after the accident, on our way back from a quick trip to Walmart, the intersection was closed and there was a fire truck with a ladder expanded out the whole way hanging in the air over nothing. There was a fireman at the top and from what I could tell, taking pictures for the investigation. I pointed out the fireman at the top and the kids thought that was pretty cool. Here was the conversation that I got a good chuckle out of- Cameron: WOW! I don't want to be a fireman! That looks scary! Melanie: I don't want to be a fire engine either!! Mom, when you grow up do you want to be a fire engine? Mom: When I grow up I want to be a mommy. Melanie, do you know what a fire engine is? After which I proceeded to explain the difference of a fire engine and a fireman. I thought it w
