Yard Overhaul

Image
I was so excited...memorial day weekend=David for 2 whole days!! So what did I have planned? Work that I couldn't do alone. The kind that required a real man. I'll just mention that David did not hold the same excitement as I did when Saturday morning came, but of course being the good husband he is, he got the job done. First, David went to Home Depot to rent a chain saw, a very dull one I might add. The trees in the back yard weren't standing for long. A very messy apple tree, a cherry tree that didn't produce anything and 4 small, scraggly trees that were in terrible spots. The yard looked so much better, and bigger after taking those out. I won't be picking up rotten apples this year!! While David was busy getting the chainsaw at home depot, I was busy working on the "rock garden". The rocks are on a small u-shaped hill and buried. I always had to weed eat around them and they were just a pain. I couldn't take it anymore. So the kids a

Who Knew?

For our Enrichment this month we had a service auction. Every sister was to bring a service of their choice that they could auction off that night. The services were anonymous until you opened the envelope after it was won. Instead of money, we had points that everyone could earn by filling out a questionnaire . Some of the questions were church related. i.e. Did you read your scriptures today (5 points), Did you do your visiting teaching this month (15 points). And then there were some like, Did you exercise this week? (10 points). Anyway, one of the services that I offered was to do family haircuts. I didn't realize that that would be such a hot item. It went for the highest bid there! Also, now that word is out that I cut hair, I have done 4 haircuts this week! I think that I will continue to cut hair at this rate. If there's a demand for it, than why not? I "bought" with my points family home evening treats for a month. We love it!!

HOT BIKERS!!

We have really enjoyed having my parents in town for the short stay. They arrived on Saturday night with Karl and Debbie Bleazard in their pickup with motorcycles in tow. We were a pit stop (room and board) for 2 nights and Sunday. We loved it! They left this morning and headed down to Bryce Canyon, Zion's Camp and what other stops they could find along the way. They will stop here again on their way home this weekend. YIPPEE!! Don't they look so CUTE!! They love taking road trips together on it, even if it's just into town for dinner. How fun is that?! David has always wanted a road bike and if I can look that good, and wear leather, I just might have to give in (when the kids are older of course!!)

Not Always The Way You Hoped!

David's company is working on a job in Hilo, Hawaii and he went last October to visit the job site. Of course the first time to Hawaii for us both and it's WITHOUT me! So he promised me in January when the job was done, we'd go together. Well, January has come and gone and the job is just about done. (If anyone knows anything about construction-it's NEVER on time!) David left this morning at 5 am to go to the airport-destination, Hilo Hawaii! Of course WITHOUT me! So I'm glad that my parents are coming Saturday and Sunday so I won't be at church alone with 4 kids, like the last time! David did say that Hawaii didn't sound as much fun anymore. I think he will change his mind though when we do go and we go to a beautiful island and work is not on his mind!! So that's what I'm up to for the next 4 days, me and the kids hangin' out while my hubby is snorkeling, golfing and, oh yeah...working in Hawaii.

Greener Lawn?

So we have these neighbors across the road from us who have the most GREEN, LUSCIOUS and THICK lawn EVER!!! Ours is looking a little on the down side with dandelions poking up here and there and just needing a little attention. So I saw my neighbor outside (who I also visit teach) and I went over to ask her what she did to make it look so great. She said "you know I think my husband puts something with beer on it." So she went in to ask. All the while I'm thinking "Beer?" So I got the special mixture that included: ammonia, Listerine, Epson salt, dish soap and yes, beer. I proceeded to ask him how he applied it and how often all the while thinking to myself how I could justify myself to buy beer at the store for my lawn. He then said that the spring application was different from the summer, in the summer you put chewing tobacco on it! Okay, at this point I really couldn't justify going to the store to buy beer AND tobacco. And then he said somet

Fantastic Weekend Vacation!!!

Last weekend was just what our family needed! We drove up to WA. for Matthew Kelly's baptism. We got up bright and shiny at 4 AM (After going to bed at 1:45 AM. I realized mother's day was the next weekend and so I got ambitious and instead of buying gifts I made them the day before we left so I could save on shipping!) Anyway, up at 4 and several changes in the driver's seat and 12 hours later, we were at my parents home. We love to pull into the basin, so fresh and airy and so relaxing!! My mom was all ready with dinner and for the Modbe party she hosted that night. Thank you ALL who came. It was so fun to see everyone. Our trips are too short to get any good visiting in with friends, so it was nice to see you! We left that night and went to Melissa and Ryan's in Connell. They now live in Chuck and Carol's old home. Melissa is amazing! For someone who can host family for 2 days, have meals ready, birthday party to put on, church calling to do, plan a ba
