Coba, Another Cenote and Telum

Monday we went on another tour of the ruins.  This time going with Helaman’s son-in-law, Carlos.  We also went with another couple from Portland, Oregon.  On our way to the ruin Coba, we stopped at a little store that harvests honey from the bees that do not have stingers.  Their honey comb is inside of trees.  We learned that they are pretty amazing bees!  They work 6 days and rest on the 7th.  Every 10 years they hibernate for 1 1/2 years!  We also got to sample the honey they make.  It is not as sweet as the normal honey we are used to and it also takes longer to produce.  Which is why it is not as common.

The funnest part about Coba was the chance to ride the bikes to the different areas of ruins there.  At each City there are still ruins that are not uncovered, as was the case with Coba.  My favorite part of this ruin was seeing where they built highways (just like the Book of Mormon talks about).  The one at Coba is not restored but it runs 70 miles straight to Ek Balam.

We also got to hike up the tallest ruin that we visited at Coba.  We all rode bikes and Carlos got a “taxi”.

We went and ate lunch at a local Restaurant and then drove out in the middle of nowhere to swim in another Cenote.  This one was way less populated, smaller and the you went down a spiral staircase and you could not see out the top.  The roof looks like that over your head!

Tulum was amazing!  Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!  We loved Tulum!  The first picture is us standing outside the wall and the last picture is leaving Tulum.  It was breath taking walking in!  The pictures do no do it justice!
