Super Dave!!

David serves in the Deacon's Quorum at church (12 & 13 year old boys) and has been in there for a year now. He absolutely LOVES serving in that calling and has really come to love the boys that are in his class. They have a very large quorum of about 15 boys. A couple of the boys, Erik and Jacob, started calling David 'Super Dave' at church and mutual a while ago and it's caught on with not only all the boys in the quorum but all of the Young Men and even some in our ward. Even the bishop now refers to David as 'Super Dave'. I told him it must be the 'really cool truck' he drives. Everyone wants to ride with David whether it's a camp out or an activity they are going to. Maybe it's because they can also relate to him a little more because he's not one of the boys' dad! What ever it is, it's a compliment to David.

Yesterday at church Jacob and Erik gave David a birthday/Christmas present. They were so excited about this present!! When David opened it, inside the box was a 'Super Dave' cape!! David was very touched by it and thought that was the awesomest present!! He wore it into his Deacon's class and even the Priests (16 &17 year old boys) came in to see it. It was quite the hit.

Last night we went over to get a picture of the 2 boys who gave it to David. The mom's were the ones to sew it and another lady in our ward made the SD design on the back!

David said he wants to frame it like Jersey's are framed for sports. To be a reminder to always try to do what is right, because you never know who is watching!

Our New Family Pictures

I have been on the hunt for a really good photographer for a long time here and there.  And I think I found one that did everything I wanted.  First, she comes and looks at the feel of your home.  For us I just sent pictures of our living room where I wanted the pictures placed.  Then she suggests colors to wear and sent pictures back with our room and picture placements she puts on the walls.  And with 5 kids, especially Jenna, you really have to photo shop A LOT!!  Almost every photo with Jenna she had to photo shop.  She did amazing!!  I was so nervous when we went over and viewed our pictures at her house.  As David put it after our photo shoot “She has to be a magician to get anything good out of that!  That was a disaster!”  After looking at our proofs I said, “well, you are a magician!”  And David said after leaving and climbing in our car to go home “That was worth every penny.”  Success! How close have you been to a Prophet?

David, and two other guys he works with, were invited to the Jazz game last Friday night. I have come to find out as a construction wife, to get business, you gotta play A LOT ! Here is a short list, not limited to, of what I mean by "play": Golfing (about 3 times a week-depending on the week and in warm weather of course) Snow skiing (about 2 times a week, again this depends on the week and when there's snow) Fancy dinners (this can also be counted as lunch, which happens more than I know I'm sure!) Executive Retreats (this will be happening in February for about 5 days in AZ, which will have all 5 days full of golfing, guaranteed!!) Jazz games (again, when in season) I don't know about you, but I think I'm in the wrong career!! This house wife things just does not include ANY of those benefits!! TRIALS

We have been preparing for over 4 years for this trial. But nothing, no matter how much you knew it could and most likely would happen, can prepare you when your son's doctor tells you now is the time. "Your son needs open heart surgery." August 24th, 2005, Jason was born in Las Vegas, NV. He was perfect and healthy looking in every way. At his 2 week check up the doctor heard a heart murmur and recommended I take him to the cardiologist. I mentioned that I was flying out to WA in a few days and so I'd probably go when I got back, 3 weeks later. The cardiologist doctor called me the next day after visiting with the pediatrician, asking me to go in to have Jason checked out. It was late and he was willing to stay after hours for us to get there. After an ultra sound of his heart (echo) the cardiologist diagnosed Jason with a very small hole in his heart. Nothing that needed to be fixed right away, unless it started causing problems. So Jason started going every 3 month
