My Most Favorite Time of the Year

GIRLS WEEKEND!!!  Seriously does it get any better than working out with your sister, eating good food together, sleeping in a hotel and shopping, shopping and MORE shopping?!!  The best tradition we have ever created!  So Alise was the only one to come to Utah this year but that didn’t stop us from having a great weekend!  She flew in on Thursday and we had non stop laughing until Sunday night!  My kids even made this exact comment “Mom, I have not seen you laugh like this in a long time!”  Ok, so that is really sad that my kids would say that but really having your sister in town makes all the worries go away!  It has been quite a few years since Alise has been to Utah so having the kids older was great!  Less whining and more playing!

Alise had her first Crossfit workout at the gym I go to.  It also happened to be the Open WOD of 14.3.  Heavy Deadlifts and box jumps for 8 minutes.  Alise was breathing harder than she has ever breathed in a workout and was sore for days from the deadlifts!  She did awesome though lifting 105 LBS 69 times!!

We went out to Cubby’s for lunch after our workout and then got scalp massages at the beauty school while the kids were at school.  What a way to start the weekend!  After we got the kids home from school we made sure everyone was good and took off to Salt Lake.  Actually we never made it quite to Salt Lake City.  We made it as far as Murray and South Jordan.  All the stores we ever needed were there!  We checked into our hotel “Home 2 Suites” which was above and beyond what we thought it would be!  Full kitchen, couch, continental breakfast, completely new and only $70!  It really saved us a lot of money not staying in downtown!  Then we headed to dinner to our traditional “Cheesecake Factory”.  We took cheesecake to go and ate it in the room later that night, also our tradition!  We shopped Friday night and Saturday and got some great deals!  Our favorite stores being Express, Bohme, Nordstrom Rack and DSW shoes.  After lunch at Olive Garden we were feeling a little drained and tired!  So we went to get a pedicure.  Just what we needed to tackle our last store of Nordstrom Rack!  Our last stop on the way home was “Waffle Love” where I introduced Alise to the best waffles ever!  We got home surprisingly early at 5 pm Saturday but we were pooped!  Thanks Alise for another great weekend and to our hubbies who held down the houses while we were gone!  Just what these mommies needed!

Our New Family Pictures

I have been on the hunt for a really good photographer for a long time here and there.  And I think I found one that did everything I wanted.  First, she comes and looks at the feel of your home.  For us I just sent pictures of our living room where I wanted the pictures placed.  Then she suggests colors to wear and sent pictures back with our room and picture placements she puts on the walls.  And with 5 kids, especially Jenna, you really have to photo shop A LOT!!  Almost every photo with Jenna she had to photo shop.  She did amazing!!  I was so nervous when we went over and viewed our pictures at her house.  As David put it after our photo shoot “She has to be a magician to get anything good out of that!  That was a disaster!”  After looking at our proofs I said, “well, you are a magician!”  And David said after leaving and climbing in our car to go home “That was worth every penny.”  Success! How close have you been to a Prophet?

David, and two other guys he works with, were invited to the Jazz game last Friday night. I have come to find out as a construction wife, to get business, you gotta play A LOT ! Here is a short list, not limited to, of what I mean by "play": Golfing (about 3 times a week-depending on the week and in warm weather of course) Snow skiing (about 2 times a week, again this depends on the week and when there's snow) Fancy dinners (this can also be counted as lunch, which happens more than I know I'm sure!) Executive Retreats (this will be happening in February for about 5 days in AZ, which will have all 5 days full of golfing, guaranteed!!) Jazz games (again, when in season) I don't know about you, but I think I'm in the wrong career!! This house wife things just does not include ANY of those benefits!! TRIALS

We have been preparing for over 4 years for this trial. But nothing, no matter how much you knew it could and most likely would happen, can prepare you when your son's doctor tells you now is the time. "Your son needs open heart surgery." August 24th, 2005, Jason was born in Las Vegas, NV. He was perfect and healthy looking in every way. At his 2 week check up the doctor heard a heart murmur and recommended I take him to the cardiologist. I mentioned that I was flying out to WA in a few days and so I'd probably go when I got back, 3 weeks later. The cardiologist doctor called me the next day after visiting with the pediatrician, asking me to go in to have Jason checked out. It was late and he was willing to stay after hours for us to get there. After an ultra sound of his heart (echo) the cardiologist diagnosed Jason with a very small hole in his heart. Nothing that needed to be fixed right away, unless it started causing problems. So Jason started going every 3 month
