Melanie Is In The Double Digits!!

 

Melanie is strutting around as a big 10 year old! Where is the time going? Honestly, I feel like she should be turning 12! She is super responsible and is just as tall as Cameron! The morning of her birthday she woke up to open her presents before school and Dad left to work only to discover she had pink eye! On her birthday! GAHHH! She was heartbroken about it and begged to go to school, to which I replied with a very sad “no”. I was so so sad that she couldn’t hand out her treats to her friends, listen to her name being announced on the speaker to everyone at school that it was her birthday and walk to the principal’s office for a prize. Everyone likes to be recognized on their special day! So when she opened her presents she wasn’t jumping up and down excited! She got her very own sewing machine and a $100 bill shopping money, which she added to her $25 she got from Grandma and Grandpa McGary. She couldn’t wait to go shopping! She ate her special breakfast of sausage and sticky buns, requested by her. I made an appointment with the doctor and made a 2 for one trip! She also got a wart removed that she had removed once before but it came back. We went out to lunch at Magleby’s in Springville and she ordered her favorite meal, chicken alfredo and a side of fries.  Then we headed to the cute quilt shop down the road and she picked out a pattern to sew a bag that holds a coloring book and crayons.  We came home and dug through my scrap fabric and found enough for her to make 3, one for her and one for each of her sisters.  She will use hers for future babysitting!

Melanie requested for dinner that night Olive Garden soup!  So we had that and french bread.  This year I told her I would eat cake and ice cream on her birthday even though I was eating whole30 for our gym challenge.  Dad held strong and ate eggs and sausage.  The next day we did a 5 hour shopping run!  I was tired by the end!  Melanie found lots of great deals and came home with empty pockets and full arms!  We got home just in time to pick up the other kids at home and head to Hang Time Trampoline for her family birthday party.  It was a fun birthday weekend for a special girl!

Our New Family Pictures

I have been on the hunt for a really good photographer for a long time here and there.  And I think I found one that did everything I wanted.  First, she comes and looks at the feel of your home.  For us I just sent pictures of our living room where I wanted the pictures placed.  Then she suggests colors to wear and sent pictures back with our room and picture placements she puts on the walls.  And with 5 kids, especially Jenna, you really have to photo shop A LOT!!  Almost every photo with Jenna she had to photo shop.  She did amazing!!  I was so nervous when we went over and viewed our pictures at her house.  As David put it after our photo shoot “She has to be a magician to get anything good out of that!  That was a disaster!”  After looking at our proofs I said, “well, you are a magician!”  And David said after leaving and climbing in our car to go home “That was worth every penny.”  Success! How close have you been to a Prophet?

David, and two other guys he works with, were invited to the Jazz game last Friday night. I have come to find out as a construction wife, to get business, you gotta play A LOT ! Here is a short list, not limited to, of what I mean by "play": Golfing (about 3 times a week-depending on the week and in warm weather of course) Snow skiing (about 2 times a week, again this depends on the week and when there's snow) Fancy dinners (this can also be counted as lunch, which happens more than I know I'm sure!) Executive Retreats (this will be happening in February for about 5 days in AZ, which will have all 5 days full of golfing, guaranteed!!) Jazz games (again, when in season) I don't know about you, but I think I'm in the wrong career!! This house wife things just does not include ANY of those benefits!! TRIALS

We have been preparing for over 4 years for this trial. But nothing, no matter how much you knew it could and most likely would happen, can prepare you when your son's doctor tells you now is the time. "Your son needs open heart surgery." August 24th, 2005, Jason was born in Las Vegas, NV. He was perfect and healthy looking in every way. At his 2 week check up the doctor heard a heart murmur and recommended I take him to the cardiologist. I mentioned that I was flying out to WA in a few days and so I'd probably go when I got back, 3 weeks later. The cardiologist doctor called me the next day after visiting with the pediatrician, asking me to go in to have Jason checked out. It was late and he was willing to stay after hours for us to get there. After an ultra sound of his heart (echo) the cardiologist diagnosed Jason with a very small hole in his heart. Nothing that needed to be fixed right away, unless it started causing problems. So Jason started going every 3 month
