End of School Year

Alyssa finished Preschool, Jason finished Kindergarten and Melanie and Cameron finished 2nd and 4th grade.  It was a long year and felt even longer the first semester because we started in July before our move.  But I am so excited for this summer!  It will be our first summer summer that is 3 months long.  It’s a good thing we have a lot planned to fill up the time!

Alyssa had an end of Preschool Program that we went to.  It was really cute.  They performed a dance for us and also did the Hansel and Gretel Play.  Alyssa is sure going to miss Ms. Laura!  She was fantastic!  The last week they rode the city bus to Spanish Fork, had a snack at the park and played and then rode back.  They also went to a Jump On It place with trampolines and blow up slides.  Then they had a water day and got to wear their swimming suits and had fun in Ms. Laura’s hot tub (it was a colder day).  It was a fun last week of school!  Alyssa can’t wait to go to Kindergarten!

I never got a picture of Jason on his last day.  But the parents got to go in to their class where they showed us their songs they had prepared and got to go around to all the centers with their child where they had different tasks to perform.  Mrs. Porter had a very cute slide show made of the kids that went along with music.  Made me teary eyed watching it!  He is excited to start the Chinese Program next year!

Melanie finished out with a great year!  She absolutely LOVED her teacher!  The last day of school the kids were given their new teacher for next year.  After a major breakdown that last for 1.5 hours, Melanie is now excited about her new teacher Mrs. Foote.  She just didn’t know who she was and had her heart set on another one.  But after finding out that a lot of Moms LOVE Mrs. Foote and also that some of her friends are in her class also, she is really excited!

Melanie has been begging to get her hair cut.  I did not expect her to say she wanted a bob though!  I cut off almost 9 inches of hair!  She is loving her hair styled with short hair!  And it will be nice and cool for the summer.

Cameron finished off 4th great good also.  His new teacher is Mrs. Hemmert.  She is new to the school next year.  Cameron called me completely in tears about 15 mins after dropping him off at school the last day.  A ball had hit his glasses and broke them.  He has been asking for contacts for a while now.  So we went out that day and got him some at Costco after an eye exam.

He has a pretty good tan line from those glasses!  For the first 3 days we stood in front of the mirror getting those suckers in!  One time while trying to put them in Cameron said “My eyeball is just to scared!”  He would get frustrated a lot and many times I would remind him that we could go back to glasses.  He did NOT want that option!  So he kept trying.  Now he is a champ at putting them in and will get it on the first or second try.

We are ready for summer!!

Our New Family Pictures

I have been on the hunt for a really good photographer for a long time here and there.  And I think I found one that did everything I wanted.  First, she comes and looks at the feel of your home.  For us I just sent pictures of our living room where I wanted the pictures placed.  Then she suggests colors to wear and sent pictures back with our room and picture placements she puts on the walls.  And with 5 kids, especially Jenna, you really have to photo shop A LOT!!  Almost every photo with Jenna she had to photo shop.  She did amazing!!  I was so nervous when we went over and viewed our pictures at her house.  As David put it after our photo shoot “She has to be a magician to get anything good out of that!  That was a disaster!”  After looking at our proofs I said, “well, you are a magician!”  And David said after leaving and climbing in our car to go home “That was worth every penny.”  Success! How close have you been to a Prophet?

David, and two other guys he works with, were invited to the Jazz game last Friday night. I have come to find out as a construction wife, to get business, you gotta play A LOT ! Here is a short list, not limited to, of what I mean by "play": Golfing (about 3 times a week-depending on the week and in warm weather of course) Snow skiing (about 2 times a week, again this depends on the week and when there's snow) Fancy dinners (this can also be counted as lunch, which happens more than I know I'm sure!) Executive Retreats (this will be happening in February for about 5 days in AZ, which will have all 5 days full of golfing, guaranteed!!) Jazz games (again, when in season) I don't know about you, but I think I'm in the wrong career!! This house wife things just does not include ANY of those benefits!! TRIALS

We have been preparing for over 4 years for this trial. But nothing, no matter how much you knew it could and most likely would happen, can prepare you when your son's doctor tells you now is the time. "Your son needs open heart surgery." August 24th, 2005, Jason was born in Las Vegas, NV. He was perfect and healthy looking in every way. At his 2 week check up the doctor heard a heart murmur and recommended I take him to the cardiologist. I mentioned that I was flying out to WA in a few days and so I'd probably go when I got back, 3 weeks later. The cardiologist doctor called me the next day after visiting with the pediatrician, asking me to go in to have Jason checked out. It was late and he was willing to stay after hours for us to get there. After an ultra sound of his heart (echo) the cardiologist diagnosed Jason with a very small hole in his heart. Nothing that needed to be fixed right away, unless it started causing problems. So Jason started going every 3 month
