Jason's Surgery

Last week Jason went in and had tubes put in his ears and adenoids taken out. He had to be there at 7 am. Luckily the hospital is just down the road. The same place I am delivering this next baby! Jason woke up kind of cranky. When I took him back and got him dressed in the hospital gown he was not at all interested in wearing that! It's a good thing I tied it on tight! Doesn't he look so happy? Jason wouldn't even hardly look at the doctors and nurses that came in and talked to him and explained things to me. So after about 45 mins. in the back waiting, they took Jason back to surgery room. I got to go back there and help move him on to the really skinny bed for surgery. They had me put on scrubs too! When they put the mask over Jason's face he just started freaking out! That was hard for me not to cry. Luckily he was crying and inhaling a lot of the gas and went to sleep in like a minute. I then left and went to my own individual waiting room. I was glad I brought a book! The doctor came in and let me know how everything went after surgery. Jason's adenoids were very large and pussy. So those for sure needed to come out! When they brought Jason out I could hear him screaming. The nurse was trying to hold him while he was fighting with her to get down. I held him for 40 mins. and the whole time he was just a mess. He had fluid draining out of his ear, bloody snot coming out of his nose, his lips were all swollen and he was still kind of out of it from the anesthesia. He was restless the whole time. It wasn't until we left that he finally calmed down. By that night he was out riding bikes with everyone else and doing a lot better. He was on antibiotics, but still had a yellow/green runny nose and so they switched it to another kind. Yesterday was the first time with that. Hopefully it becomes more clear. If after a month he still has a runny nose, I am going to take him to an allergy specialist and check him out. Allergies isn't a problem with my other kids, but Jason's immune is so different than any of the others. One step at a time!!

What a crazy ordeal. I don't know how you keep your cool, Kira! I'd be losing it! I'm glad he's doing a bit better, and I hope he continues.
