Hershey Track Meet

Cameron and Melanie both participated in the Hershey Track Meet this year.  They compete with others in their same grade and against 3 or 4 different other schools.  They do this at the high school track and it is so much fun to watch!  We all pack a lunch and plan to spend several hours there depending on when their races are.  They both ran the 200 and 400 meter race.  And they were both happy with how they ran.  They were always in the middle of the pack and that was better than last to them!  Since this was Melanie’s first year she had major anxiety about it.  I think she gets to much of that from me, she is just more vocal about it!  She said things like “what if I stop running in the middle of the race?”  “You said not to sprint at the beginning of the 400, so is this fast enough” while showing me a run slower than a sprint.  Her teacher sent home a list of items that she could take to the meet.  And she had to have EVERYTHING on that list if we had it!  A squirt bottle for if you get hot, sunscreen, a fan, an umbrella, a hat, etc.  I think next year will be much better since she will know what is going on!  Melanie is wearing a white t-shirt and Cameron is wearing green.
