Melanie is 8!!!

I can not believe our Mel Bell is 8!!!  I am so happy with the young woman that she is becoming.  She is so responsible and thrives on that! 

We were so lucky and had family to celebrate with!  Chris and Andrea were down from WA and Melanie felt so special to have them here to celebrate!!

This warm robe and slippers were from Chris and Andrea and she LOVES them!  She loves to get out of the shower and put this on.  She wants to learn how to wrap her wet hair in a towel on top of her head!  HAHA!!

We gave Melanie her own set of scriptures with her name on them, scripture bag, picture of the temple to put in her room and a new outfit to wear to church.  She loves that it is a skirt!  She has out grown the dresses some and loves skirts!  Another sign of her growing up!  She also got money from both grandparents and she wanted to go shopping and buy some more clothes for church!  She got another cute outfit and it included new shoes and earrings! 

Melanie loves so many things right now and has such a strong desire to choose the right.  She LOVES animals still and I don’t think that will ever go away!  She is learning and growing as a pianist and loves improving every week.  She always chooses to practice the piano first over homework when those are the options given her after school.  She loves to have her own room still and likes to rearrange and organize it.  She has asked when she can babysit and how old she has to be.  She wants to earn her own moneySmile  We did let her babysit while we were at a Blue and Gold banquet across the street for 1 1/2 hours.  We said we would pay her if the house was kept clean and the kids were in bed when we got home.  She did not disappoint us!  Like I said before she thrives on responsibility! 

She has so many great friends at school and in our neighborhood.  I love that she has chosen good friends to surround her!  They will be so important in a few more years!

Love you Melanie!!  So proud of you!!!  You are beautiful inside and out!!

Our New Family Pictures

I have been on the hunt for a really good photographer for a long time here and there.  And I think I found one that did everything I wanted.  First, she comes and looks at the feel of your home.  For us I just sent pictures of our living room where I wanted the pictures placed.  Then she suggests colors to wear and sent pictures back with our room and picture placements she puts on the walls.  And with 5 kids, especially Jenna, you really have to photo shop A LOT!!  Almost every photo with Jenna she had to photo shop.  She did amazing!!  I was so nervous when we went over and viewed our pictures at her house.  As David put it after our photo shoot “She has to be a magician to get anything good out of that!  That was a disaster!”  After looking at our proofs I said, “well, you are a magician!”  And David said after leaving and climbing in our car to go home “That was worth every penny.”  Success! How close have you been to a Prophet?

David, and two other guys he works with, were invited to the Jazz game last Friday night. I have come to find out as a construction wife, to get business, you gotta play A LOT ! Here is a short list, not limited to, of what I mean by "play": Golfing (about 3 times a week-depending on the week and in warm weather of course) Snow skiing (about 2 times a week, again this depends on the week and when there's snow) Fancy dinners (this can also be counted as lunch, which happens more than I know I'm sure!) Executive Retreats (this will be happening in February for about 5 days in AZ, which will have all 5 days full of golfing, guaranteed!!) Jazz games (again, when in season) I don't know about you, but I think I'm in the wrong career!! This house wife things just does not include ANY of those benefits!! TRIALS

We have been preparing for over 4 years for this trial. But nothing, no matter how much you knew it could and most likely would happen, can prepare you when your son's doctor tells you now is the time. "Your son needs open heart surgery." August 24th, 2005, Jason was born in Las Vegas, NV. He was perfect and healthy looking in every way. At his 2 week check up the doctor heard a heart murmur and recommended I take him to the cardiologist. I mentioned that I was flying out to WA in a few days and so I'd probably go when I got back, 3 weeks later. The cardiologist doctor called me the next day after visiting with the pediatrician, asking me to go in to have Jason checked out. It was late and he was willing to stay after hours for us to get there. After an ultra sound of his heart (echo) the cardiologist diagnosed Jason with a very small hole in his heart. Nothing that needed to be fixed right away, unless it started causing problems. So Jason started going every 3 month
