The Latest Around Here

There has been a lot going on and blogging hasn’t been one of them.  I looked at my pictures on my phone and realized I have a lot to share and record!  So here is a little bit that has been happening this fall.

Sometimes we make a drive through downtown Provo.  The old Tabernacle is being renovated due to the fire that damaged it so bad and will soon be the newest Provo Temple.  I am so excited about this!  David had his graduation ceremony here from BYU for Construction Management.  We also had our Stake Conference’s here when we lived in our house in Provo.  So we went enough to have this mean something special to us.  The pillars that were on top are sitting on the ground.  It’s been amazing to be able to experience so many temples being built around us!

Melanie has been begging to have a quilt.  We looked at buying one but she just couldn’t find anything she liked.  And I will admit that when we went and looked at bedding and I saw the poor quality that the fabric was I was also convinced that making one would be the only way to go!  When I found a pattern I loved online that was it.  This quilt took so long to make!  I think about 6 weeks total.  Good thing I got it done before the cold weather came!!  I have 1 or 2 more pillows to make and then it will be complete.  It is all made out of Minky fabric so it is so soft and cuddly but VERY heavy!!

Jenna is my first child to have Strep Throat.  Yuck!  She had the highest fever I have probably ever seen on my other kids.  She was over 103 when I took her in.  So happy there is modern medicine to fix these sicknesses for our babies!!

We went to Corn Belly’s Pumpkin patch.  There was a small petting zoo, maze, this corn to play and dig in and pumpkins to pick.  The kids had fun burying each other.

I am blonde again!  Highlighting your own hair has it’s perks sometimes.  But it takes so much TIME!!

We made a trip to West Jordan a couple weekends ago.  Melanie was invited to a Halloween Party.  It was a lot of fun.  The longer we are away the more things change.  I know it wasn’t all that it was hyped up to be for her.  Her friends missed her of course and loved seeing her but I know being gone for a full school year makes a difference!  Things don’t stand still like you think or hope they do.

Jenna has been doing a LOT of coloring.  Alyssa too.  Jenna has gotten really good and works so carefully to try and stay in the lines.

Jenna LOVES horses!  We see a lot in Springville and Mapleton driving around the country.  She really misses Grandpa McGary’s horses!  When she saw these outside of PF Changs she had to get up close.  She wanted to ride it but that wasn’t going to happen!

Last Saturday I took the girls out for a “Girls Day”.  It was so much fun!!  We went to lunch.  My girls love Chuck O’Rama.  All you can eat whatever and dessert!  They were in heaven!  Then we went to the mall and shopped and shopped.  They each got some new outfits, Melanie got shoes and Alyssa got her ears pierced.  She was pretty nervous but I think she was more excited.  She didn’t cry or anything.  She was so happy and kept saying “I can’t believe I have my ears pierced!”  She had been asking for a while.

Anytime David can get Jenna to snuggle with him he loves it!  She wasn’t going to sleep last night.  I think the late nap did it!  They had fun watching videos of people doing CrossFit on the ipad.

Loved catching up with you and your cute family. I sure wish we lived closer. I'd love to see them all in person.

Our New Family Pictures

I have been on the hunt for a really good photographer for a long time here and there.  And I think I found one that did everything I wanted.  First, she comes and looks at the feel of your home.  For us I just sent pictures of our living room where I wanted the pictures placed.  Then she suggests colors to wear and sent pictures back with our room and picture placements she puts on the walls.  And with 5 kids, especially Jenna, you really have to photo shop A LOT!!  Almost every photo with Jenna she had to photo shop.  She did amazing!!  I was so nervous when we went over and viewed our pictures at her house.  As David put it after our photo shoot “She has to be a magician to get anything good out of that!  That was a disaster!”  After looking at our proofs I said, “well, you are a magician!”  And David said after leaving and climbing in our car to go home “That was worth every penny.”  Success! How close have you been to a Prophet?

David, and two other guys he works with, were invited to the Jazz game last Friday night. I have come to find out as a construction wife, to get business, you gotta play A LOT ! Here is a short list, not limited to, of what I mean by "play": Golfing (about 3 times a week-depending on the week and in warm weather of course) Snow skiing (about 2 times a week, again this depends on the week and when there's snow) Fancy dinners (this can also be counted as lunch, which happens more than I know I'm sure!) Executive Retreats (this will be happening in February for about 5 days in AZ, which will have all 5 days full of golfing, guaranteed!!) Jazz games (again, when in season) I don't know about you, but I think I'm in the wrong career!! This house wife things just does not include ANY of those benefits!! TRIALS

We have been preparing for over 4 years for this trial. But nothing, no matter how much you knew it could and most likely would happen, can prepare you when your son's doctor tells you now is the time. "Your son needs open heart surgery." August 24th, 2005, Jason was born in Las Vegas, NV. He was perfect and healthy looking in every way. At his 2 week check up the doctor heard a heart murmur and recommended I take him to the cardiologist. I mentioned that I was flying out to WA in a few days and so I'd probably go when I got back, 3 weeks later. The cardiologist doctor called me the next day after visiting with the pediatrician, asking me to go in to have Jason checked out. It was late and he was willing to stay after hours for us to get there. After an ultra sound of his heart (echo) the cardiologist diagnosed Jason with a very small hole in his heart. Nothing that needed to be fixed right away, unless it started causing problems. So Jason started going every 3 month
