Pillow Talk

The other night I was putting the boys to bed. By the time bedtime comes around it is usually get in bed, lets pray, good night. That is the quick way, which happens most of the time. Also David usually puts the boys to bed and I help the girls. A couple nights ago I was in a mood to talk with the kids. I love it when I get into those moods because sometimes I have the best and funnest conversations and more one on one with the kids.

After talking about the normal stuff of school and wrestling I shifted gears and asked my boys what they were doing to prepare for their missions. Cameron mentioned that he had finished the Book of Mormon and wanted to read the Bible and so we talked about that a little. I asked Jason what he was doing. He said "well, I know how to tie my shoes. I need to take off my training wheels so I know how to ride a bike."
I have this picture of 2 missionaries above their dresser in their room. One missionary is bent over tying his shoe with a bike leaning against the wall and the other missionary is looking in a mirror with the Book of Mormon in hand and his reflection in the mirror he has the armor of God on with Jesus Christ placing a helmet on his head. The saying above the picture says "missionary, noun, A person who leaves their family for a while so others can be with their FAMILIES FOREVER."

Jason talked about getting a sword which brought up more questions. "When we go on a mission do we fight in a war?" "Will we see Jesus on our mission?" I explained that it was a different war. A war of good and evil. That they would be teaching with the sword of truth. They would be teaching with the Holy Ghost and they were on Jesus Christ's side and Satan and his followers would be working very hard to discourage their work. I told them that it was so important while they were on their missions to follow the rules and always have the Holy Ghost with them so that we could win the ward of good and evil.

Jason asked me to tell him something out of the scriptures and so I told the story of the conversion of Alma the Younger and how he became the best missionary there ever was. Jason was so cute and said, "Mom, dad needs to talk to us about this more so we don't forget." (remember dad puts them to bed more than mom!) So cute and innocent.

I was retelling all of this to David while laying in bed and it was just so fun to reflect on and talk about. Sweet, sweet spirits.

Our New Family Pictures

I have been on the hunt for a really good photographer for a long time here and there.  And I think I found one that did everything I wanted.  First, she comes and looks at the feel of your home.  For us I just sent pictures of our living room where I wanted the pictures placed.  Then she suggests colors to wear and sent pictures back with our room and picture placements she puts on the walls.  And with 5 kids, especially Jenna, you really have to photo shop A LOT!!  Almost every photo with Jenna she had to photo shop.  She did amazing!!  I was so nervous when we went over and viewed our pictures at her house.  As David put it after our photo shoot “She has to be a magician to get anything good out of that!  That was a disaster!”  After looking at our proofs I said, “well, you are a magician!”  And David said after leaving and climbing in our car to go home “That was worth every penny.”  Success! How close have you been to a Prophet?

David, and two other guys he works with, were invited to the Jazz game last Friday night. I have come to find out as a construction wife, to get business, you gotta play A LOT ! Here is a short list, not limited to, of what I mean by "play": Golfing (about 3 times a week-depending on the week and in warm weather of course) Snow skiing (about 2 times a week, again this depends on the week and when there's snow) Fancy dinners (this can also be counted as lunch, which happens more than I know I'm sure!) Executive Retreats (this will be happening in February for about 5 days in AZ, which will have all 5 days full of golfing, guaranteed!!) Jazz games (again, when in season) I don't know about you, but I think I'm in the wrong career!! This house wife things just does not include ANY of those benefits!! TRIALS

We have been preparing for over 4 years for this trial. But nothing, no matter how much you knew it could and most likely would happen, can prepare you when your son's doctor tells you now is the time. "Your son needs open heart surgery." August 24th, 2005, Jason was born in Las Vegas, NV. He was perfect and healthy looking in every way. At his 2 week check up the doctor heard a heart murmur and recommended I take him to the cardiologist. I mentioned that I was flying out to WA in a few days and so I'd probably go when I got back, 3 weeks later. The cardiologist doctor called me the next day after visiting with the pediatrician, asking me to go in to have Jason checked out. It was late and he was willing to stay after hours for us to get there. After an ultra sound of his heart (echo) the cardiologist diagnosed Jason with a very small hole in his heart. Nothing that needed to be fixed right away, unless it started causing problems. So Jason started going every 3 month
