Primary Program

Image
Today the kids had their Primary Program at church.  It turned out beautiful.  I was really worried before yesterday’s program practice of how it was going to turn out.  We got a new Primary Presidency the beginning of August and so by the time we got the program it wasn’t until last week!  I got my first copy yesterday at our last practice.  I had been given a list of the songs so I had been practicing on the piano before, I just didn’t feel prepared with the order.  It all went so smooth though today and turned out very nice.  This was the first one with all of my kids up on the stand.  It will be the last one though because Cameron will be 12 next year and out of Primary.  I would have loved to have been down in the stands watching them but I have really enjoyed being in Primary every week watching them behind the piano.  And here are 3 attempts at getting a jumping picture.  We were laughing so hard at the end!  It was hilarious!

Football

Cameron played for the Springville Football team.  He was #85.  He had a fun time, worked hard and it paid off!  His team went undefeated the whole season and won their championship game last week!  They had cheerleaders there every game.  Jason played for South County.  His team had players from Springville, Spanish Fork, Payson and Gunnison UT.  It was also a great season for Jason.  He was #13.  He played offensive Lineman.  They also went undefeated and won their championship game yesterday.  While Jason would be out on the sidelines, Cameron was right there, showing him how to hit and giving him pointers. It was really fun to watch them both love the game!  This was Jason’s first year and he is going to be really good in football.  He LOVED it.  After the huddle he would run up to the line with a huge smile on his face the whole time.  He really loved the game.

Grateful

I am beyond grateful for my family!  5 beautiful children who I adore (probably don’t show it as much as I should) and an amazingly supportive husband.  Just feeling so grateful and blessed today!

Zombie Throwdown

Image
David and I had a fun date night last night.  We had a Halloween WOD at Hermes Crossfit.  It was SOOO much fun!!  David dressed up as Richard Simmons on Sweating with the Oldies and I was an 80’s Workout Girl.  The funny thing is the kids did not think I was very dressed up except for my hair being crazy.  I guess that is what happens when the fad comes back!  HAHA!!  Our workout was a partner one and we had to do all sorts of things related to Halloween.  We did a pumpkin toss over the box.  If we dropped the pumpkin we had to do a burpee before we could continue.  Our pumpkin was ruined by the time we got done and I have bruises on my arms from catching it!  Then I had to get on David’s shoulders.  He had to squat down, hand me a body part in the basket, stand up and turn around and I had to throw it at a picture of a zombie taped to the wall.  If I hit it we got 10 seconds taken off our finish time.  I hit probably 1/2 of the 10 I threw.  Then we each had to do 10 Deadlift 225 Lbs f

Pumpkin Patch

Image
While Dad went to the BYU football game the kids and I went to the pumpkin patch and played!  We grew our own pumpkins this year so we didn’t buy any pumpkins.  They got a hay ride around the pumpkin patch, petted the animals, went down the tunnel slides, played in the mazes and corn kernels digging.  It was fun!  Then we headed up to Orem and went to Classic Skating and the kids roller bladed and played on the bounce houses.  We ordered pizza and pop there and stopped to get ice cream at Cold Stone on the way home.  It was a fun afternoon playing!

Midway during our Fall Break

Image
For fall break the kids and I drove up to Midway Thursday to see Grandpa and Grandma Lee who were staying at WorldMark.  David met us up there and spent the night with us after work.  Andrea and Chris’ family and Megan and Tony’s family were up there too.  The cousins had fun playing together.  We went swimming for most of the time.  Jenna turned in to a little fish.  She wanted me next to her the whole time and after a few hours of swimming she was happy to be swimming all by herself around the whole pool.  Alyssa also became a good little swimmer, setting a benchmark where she would swim to and then getting farther each time.  Next summer she should be swimming really well!  Jason had forgotten how good he could swim and when he tried swimming in the deep end he was excited to remember he could swim the whole length of the pool.  It is really nice having so many good swimmers!  Jenna drank quite a bit of the chlorine water at the end and she ended up throwing up in the towel before w

General Conference

Image
We were able to get tickets to the Sunday afternoon General Conference.  It was so much fun!  This was the kids’ first time going and they thought it was pretty awesome!  We got tickets to sit down on the bottom floor but parking was horrendous and so by the time we got in conference had already started.  So we sat up on the top balcony corner.  It was pretty special being in the same room as the prophets!  Jenna and Alyssa stayed with Chris’ family playing with cousins.  They had a blast!  Temple Square is a really special place!

Soccer

Image
Melanie and Alyssa both did soccer this Fall.  It was fun for both of them to do it and they really liked it.  I think their favorite part were the treats at the end!  Melanie is #11 and Alyssa is #16.  Alyssa’s best friend, Cambria Ross that she played against.  That was a fun game for her!

Examples

On the car ride to the movie theatre tonight Melanie was telling me about her day in Art Class.  The teacher asked the class what they believed in, what their dreams were and what inspired them.  Then she called on a few members in the class to share one of those.  Three girls in her class said “I believe in God”, “I believe the Book of Mormon is true” and “I believe that Thomas S. Monson is a Prophet.”  Melanie said she was so shocked!  She did not know there were so many in her class that were LDS.  I kind of laughed and said that her class was probably 90% LDS.  Melanie said “I was so impressed that they would say that!  I don’t think that I would say that.  I don’t know if I am that brave.”  I am really glad that there are others who are willing to share their beliefs in front of my kids.  Sometimes just hearing and knowing that your friend believes something and isn’t afraid to share it outside of church strengthens your own testimony.
