Oceanside, CA- Family Vacation (Mon-Wed)
Last week we took our very first “family vacation” and we LOVED every minute of it! David’s parents gave us a timeshare to Oceanside California and it was the PERFECT week to go! Thank you SO MUCH!!! The kids are off for 3 weeks in January of school and this was really the best time to go. Not many tourists, kids back in school, winter…awesome!!
We stayed the night in St. George Sunday night and hit the road to Cali Monday morning around 9:30. The kids traveled great as usual and it was a fun drive (since it was our first time). We arrived Monday night and got all settled in. Our room had 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a hideaway bed, kitchen, dining and living area. We had a t.v in our room, which was a treat! Also there was a balcony with a BBQ that we used one night. We were on the 5th floor and had a beautiful view of the ocean. This time share was not right off the ocean. We drove down and parked when we went. So the next day (Tuesday) we did just that. We went and found some buckets and shovels at the store and then played!
Tuesday was the coldest day we were there. It was in the mid 60’s. Warm enough from the low 20’s that we came from in Utah!
Melanie found two shells with clams in them. David and her cooked them up when they got back to the condo. David was brave and ate one…EWWW!!!
We had fun putting together these puzzles from the dollar store. A couple of them were tiny 300 pieces.
Wednesday was our exploring day. The kids enjoyed the playground from the timeshare. It was so gorgeous at 10 am!
Then we ventured over to the Pier. What a perfect day to walk on!
As we got walking along Cameron yelled out “Hey DAD! Your name!!” And there it was “David Lee”
So that really started the kids on the hunt to find their own names.
We found Jason’s name,
Then Cameron’s.
To my surprise I found my name on there!
Melanie was so upset that her name hadn’t been found. It wasn’t until the walk back at the very beginning of the pier we finally found her name.
Alyssa and Jenna’s name, if they were on there, never were found. It’s a miracle we saw the ones we did! But David was the only name with the correct first and last name. Fun for the kids!
Oh…the kids found Jesus’ name too!
We saw this pelican sitting on the rail. After a little bit I got the idea to take a picture next to it and suggested it to the kids. Cameron walked over and the pelican stood up, stretched out his neck with his mouth wide open and wings out. He almost got his head bit off! It makes me laugh just sitting here writing about it! I guess the pelican didn’t like that to well!
There were lots of surfers rowing this day! Not a lot of wind.
Later that day we took the kids to watch the movie Tangled. Us and another family of 3 were the only ones in the theatre! It was a fun movie to watch.

I downloaded a program off the internet from blurb.com. I love it. I think it's extremely user friendly and super reasonable in price. Last year my book from 2010 was 289 pages. With shipping included I only paid $79. My kid's book I have ordered for them have been about 70 pages and like $30 with shipping included. I have loved the quality and for a treasured keepsake I thought it was worth every penny. Anyways, hope that helps.
