Melanie’s new hair cut

Melanie has been asking since last summer to have her hair cut.  First Dad said no (he likes it long) and I was a little attached to.  But after them being off track for several weeks and a brush not combing it everyday I was tired of seeing it scraggly.  So when Melanie asked to have it cut the other night I said “okay!”  She loves it and when she looked in the mirror afterwards she said it was “just how she wanted it.”

She looks more grown up to me with it shorter.  She was happy when she woke up the next morning and it was still smooth. 

**I broke the news to David over the phone that night.  He is in South Carolina for business!  He will love it, I know!

Melanie, you are so BEAUTIFUL!!! It must be close to your birthday, since you are looking even more grown up. Aren't you glad your mom is a hairdresser (hair artist)? Jason is all goo-goo eyed at you. It looks like you've driven him to drink. Then there's Alyssa who is already planning her new hair do. We love you.

David, and two other guys he works with, were invited to the Jazz game last Friday night. I have come to find out as a construction wife, to get business, you gotta play A LOT ! Our New Family Pictures

I have been on the hunt for a really good photographer for a long time here and there.  And I think I found one that did everything I wanted.  First, she comes and looks at the feel of your home.  For us I just sent pictures of our living room where I wanted the pictures placed.  Then she suggests colors to wear and sent pictures back with our room and picture placements she puts on the walls.  And with 5 kids, especially Jenna, you really have to photo shop A LOT!!  Almost every photo with Jenna she had to photo shop.  She did amazing!!  I was so nervous when we went over and viewed our pictures at her house.  As David put it after our photo shoot “She has to be a magician to get anything good out of that!  That was a disaster!”  After looking at our proofs I said, “well, you are a magician!”  And David said after leaving and climbing in our car to go home “That was worth every penny.”  Success! Melanie’s Calling in Life

Two Days ago Melanie was getting ready to go out the door.  She had her coat and was looking for her other jacket.  I asked her why she needed it when she already had her coat on.  She said she was going to take it to her friend at school, Humana, because she wears 3 jackets and doesn’t have a coat.  5 minutes later Melanie asked me “Mom, can we buy Humana a coat?”  I had already been thinking about that but told Melanie I would look while I was out to see if I could find one.  I went to 3 different stores to look!  Winter coats in that size are hard to find these days!  But I finally found something at Walmart and got gloves and a hat.  My friend, Angela, who drove carpool that morning called me while I was out looking.  She called worried because Melanie had said on the way to school that her friend didn’t have a coat and was sleeping on the floor.  I told her I knew about the coat and was getting one but Melanie hadn’t mentioned ...
