Family Fun at Lagoon

We FINALLY celebrated our goal of finishing the Book of Mormon this last winter at Lagoon. It was FUN, FUN, FUN!!! We loved everything about it! When we were walking from the parking lot to the entrance the kids were squealing with excitement and whooping and hollering! They could hardly contain their excitement. This was the first time for any of them and it had been 9 years since David and I had been to Lagoon. Did I mention we were excited??
We dropped off our cooler full of food at the food pavilion and then went straight to all of the kiddie rides. Our kids are still young enough to enjoy all of them. And it worked out great because each one of them had a buddy to ride the rides with. Cameron showed the most excitement about getting on the rides and then would do this while on the ride. Duck his head and hold on for dear life!!
Melanie and Alyssa were in absolute heaven! They had a blast together! And for a Saturday the lines to the rides weren't long at all. Especially the kids' area. It was the perfect weather also. It started out overcast, but still extremely hot in the high 90's. It really turned out to be the perfect day!
The dragon roller coaster was a favorite ride for the kids. Jason's smile is so great! You can't see Cameron next to him because he is once again ducking down and holding on for dear life! You can see Melanie's head towards the back.
Raging Rapids. David and I took turns staying with Jenna in the stroller. So I went down this ride with the kids. I was looking at the huge waterfall coming up that soaked me and Alyssa BIG time!
We took a late lunch break after 2. We all were ready for lunch!
Jenna did SOOOO good! She took cat naps in her car seat that was in the stroller throughout the day. But for the most part she was awake and happy. The only hard part was that David and I had to stay with her while the other rode on the rides. But it really didn't end up being that big of a deal.
The kids LOVED Lagoon-A-Beach. Lots of fun here! Jason, Melanie, Cameron and Alyssa all played on the kids' area for a while and then Jason wanted to go on the big tube slides. So we went over there and the height restriction only allowed for Melanie and Cameron to go. So Jason and Alyssa went over and sat with David and Jenna. They were pretty sad to miss out! We went down a couple of times and came back to both of them sleeping! They were worn out! It was around 5 pm, so we had been going, going for a long time!
Jenna even got to wear her swimsuit. It was pretty pointless since she didn't even get close to the water. I didn't want her in the direct sunlight so we hung out in the shade.
Jason was just a little to small for the big rides. And he wanted to go on a lot of them! This was the bumper cars. It didn't turn out to be so good though. Cameron couldn't get his car out of the corner and Melanie got off with whiplash! So we were all happy when we found the bumper cars for the little kids. They all could ride and everyone was happier!!
The swings were fun to. I loved that they had so many fun kids rides just like the big rides.

David got to ride on some big rides and we went on a couple with Cameron and Melanie. After the bat ride (where your feet hang off) Cameron said "Phew! Glad that's over!" David took Cameron on an old rickety roller coaster and that was to much for him. He was done with the big rides after that! Melanie LOVED the bat ride and I went with her on the mouse ride. You feel like you are going to go over the edge and Melanie was pretty scared. But she loved the Pirate ship!

On the way out Cameron said he wanted a family picture in front of Lagoon. So we asked someone to take our picture. I'm glad that we did. It was 10:30 when we left, closing time. It was a long, fun day! I didn't think we would last that long but we did!!
It felt so good to set a goal, accomplish it and enjoy the reward with our family together. We let the kids know how proud we were of them for reading the Book of Mormon. It was a very memorable and just an awesome day together!!
