4th of July Vacation

DAY 1

We had such a great time in Washington visiting family for the 4th of July weekend. We left Wednesday morning. The drive seemed VERY long. Our DVD player is jammed, so I went to the library before we left and got some books on CD for the kids. We listened to 3 1/2 hours of Junie B. Jones, First Grader both ways. Melanie was really in to them. The other ones weren't great hits and so they didn't last long in the player! We also jammed out to Taylor Swift. My girls are already in to music! It was good ole fashion traveling!
Thursday morning we helped my mom pick her raspberries. With such a cool summer, the raspberries did great this year. Don't they look delicious? Yum!!

We went and visited G & G McGary. The kids loved the endless candy bowl and toys downstairs.
Then we headed over to David's sister, Melissa's house. I always forget to take pictures while we are there. The kids LOVED to swim in the pool. It was very relaxing!!
The wii came out and the older ones had fun on that.
Dinner outside with all of the cousins. I have probably said this before but we are so lucky to have so many cousins to play with. Everyone has a buddy or 2. It is fun being pregnant at the same time!

David, and two other guys he works with, were invited to the Jazz game last Friday night. I have come to find out as a construction wife, to get business, you gotta play A LOT ! Here is a short list, not limited to, of what I mean by "play": Golfing (about 3 times a week-depending on the week and in warm weather of course) Snow skiing (about 2 times a week, again this depends on the week and when there's snow) Fancy dinners (this can also be counted as lunch, which happens more than I know I'm sure!) Executive Retreats (this will be happening in February for about 5 days in AZ, which will have all 5 days full of golfing, guaranteed!!) Jazz games (again, when in season) I don't know about you, but I think I'm in the wrong career!! This house wife things just does not include ANY of those benefits!! Our New Family Pictures

I have been on the hunt for a really good photographer for a long time here and there.  And I think I found one that did everything I wanted.  First, she comes and looks at the feel of your home.  For us I just sent pictures of our living room where I wanted the pictures placed.  Then she suggests colors to wear and sent pictures back with our room and picture placements she puts on the walls.  And with 5 kids, especially Jenna, you really have to photo shop A LOT!!  Almost every photo with Jenna she had to photo shop.  She did amazing!!  I was so nervous when we went over and viewed our pictures at her house.  As David put it after our photo shoot “She has to be a magician to get anything good out of that!  That was a disaster!”  After looking at our proofs I said, “well, you are a magician!”  And David said after leaving and climbing in our car to go home “That was worth every penny.”  Success! Melanie’s Calling in Life

Two Days ago Melanie was getting ready to go out the door.  She had her coat and was looking for her other jacket.  I asked her why she needed it when she already had her coat on.  She said she was going to take it to her friend at school, Humana, because she wears 3 jackets and doesn’t have a coat.  5 minutes later Melanie asked me “Mom, can we buy Humana a coat?”  I had already been thinking about that but told Melanie I would look while I was out to see if I could find one.  I went to 3 different stores to look!  Winter coats in that size are hard to find these days!  But I finally found something at Walmart and got gloves and a hat.  My friend, Angela, who drove carpool that morning called me while I was out looking.  She called worried because Melanie had said on the way to school that her friend didn’t have a coat and was sleeping on the floor.  I told her I knew about the coat and was getting one but Melanie hadn’t mentioned ...
