The New “Normal”

Can I just start by saying I miss the old normal?  If I even see a glimpse into what my future holds by the way the last month has been going I will be completely gray, crazy and very forgetful by 10 years!  A couple weeks ago I sat on the couch 15 mins. before the kids got out of school and thought “the calm before the storm”.  I need  another hour of calm!  But pick up the kids I go and the whirlwind of the end of the day starts.  Backpacks, shoes, socks, homework scattered out over the table, reading books out on the couch, snacks and food on the counter and sometimes heated up in the microwave.  The fun doesn’t stop when I am torn between usually 3 kids needing help with some sort of homework and usually it isn’t a quick answer, at least not with Jason and Alyssa.  Add piano on to that and I am still sitting down to help Melanie on her songs for another 30 mins.  Phew!  Quick, clean up and put your stuff away you have 20 mins to play...

Fall Activities

I had the grand idea the second week of school to take Jenna to Seven Peaks before Labor Day.  I knew we would have fun because it would just be her and I and we could go down all those slides together without any interruption.  I was actually looking forward to it and the big crowd gone.  I thought I was a genius to think this up!  Well we drove to Provo only to find that it was closed!  Then I thought of course they are closed!  All the life guards are back to school!  Dang it!  Jenna was so sad!  So we went back to Springville and went to the Splash Pad.  It was nice not to have all the big kids there splashing water.  We had a great time!  We thought we would get a snow cone on our way home but that plan was foiled too as all the sno shacks had closed up and left.  So I made fruit smoothies for both of us.  Jenna didn’t like that idea quite as well as the snow cone.  Goodbye summer!! I love our neighborhood...

Jason’s Special Baptism Day

Image
Jason was baptized yesterday a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  It was such a special day for him!  He was so excited!!  He was the first one awake!  Both sets of Grandparents were able to be there.  My parents didn’t make it until 2 am to our house, driving all night!  Chuck and Carol took off shortly after to leave to WA to attend their other Grandson, Mark’s baptism.  Chris and Andrea with their kids, Megan and Rocky, The Primary President Sis. Packer and Jason’s Primary teacher Sis. Ashcraft also came.  Grandpa Lee gave the talk on being baptized and I gave the talk on the Holy Ghost.  I likened a stop light to the Holy Ghost.  Red being warnings that the Holy Ghost will give you to leave a bad movie, change the radio station, or leave a bad situation.  Yellow being promptings to give service, go check on something or invite someone to church.  Green being a feeling you get when you do something r...
